Overview of main dishes and their importance in the culinary world

WHAT IS THE MAIN COURSE?

  • The most important course of a meal.
  • Rich in nutrients.
  • This dish provides the bulk of the nutritional value of the meal.

WHAT IS A GOOD MAIN COURSE?

It’s a subjective point of view of who’s taste is what. This is how I tell you what we think a good main course looks like.

  • The defining element of the menu bar. The flavors of the other dishes are built around and support the main dish.
  • Seasonal and rich in flavors.
  • Nourishing and nutritious

In this recipe collection, you will find the recipes for all the main dishes on the site. Our recipes either describe the original preparation of a classic dish or renew an old favourite.

It is very important not to take lunch lightly, as most of our daily energy intake comes from it. Many dieters make the mistake of “I just eat a little chicken with a salad and I still don’t lose weight” and torture themselves. This is a mistake, because you MUST eat carbohydrates at lunch. Be careful to avoid overeating, as it causes digestive problems and fatigue, making it harder for us to concentrate on our tasks.

What does a proper lunch include?

– Good quality complete protein source (lean meats)

– Vegetables, either raw or cooked, because fiber is needed

– Good source of carbohydrates (brown rice, bulgur, buckwheat, barley, millet, quinoa, even potatoes, but not fried in oil!)

– You can safely eat durum pasta, but there are already ch-reduced pastas made for diabetics and dieters (e.g. Rédei, Dia-Wellness)

It is important to pay attention to the quantities! The side dish was 60g when measured dry, and it was more than enough. This is worth customizing because not everyone has the same needs.

It doesn’t hurt to know how much our basic metabolism is, even if we don’t count calories wildly. The metabolic value means how many calories the body needs to live ϑ And this does not include the fact that we are active, which can even drastically increase the energy demand.

Introduction to Main Dishes

Characteristics of main dishes by country

Slovakia – brindzás galuska: The most typical Slovakian national dish is sheep curd (brindzás) galuska with bacon. This is a dumpling made of potato dough mixed with special sheep’s cheese, i.e. sheep’s curd – brindza, which is the so-called in a wooden house – a hut or on a shepherd’s farm – salaš is the tastiest.

The portion is topped with bacon fried together with melted lard. Buttermilk or sour milk is the best drink for sheep cottage cheese dumplings. Slovakia can boast of an unusual interest in the world. In the mountain settlement called Turecká (Turk), located on the side of the Veľká Fatra (High Fatra), lovers of dumplings with sheep curd used to gather at the world championship of dumpling making and eating dumplings.

Hungary – Gulyás: Goulyás is one of the most famous of all Hungarian dishes, despite this, not everyone knows the origin of this Hungarian specialty to this day. It got its name from the goulash guarding the cattle. Goulash made in a cauldron is considered the most authentic version. Each region of Hungary has its own type of goulash, but in terms of texture, it is generally between soup and vegetable stew, and contains beef (occasionally veal or pork), carrots, potatoes, spices and paprika. The history of goulash dates back to the ninth century, but it only became a symbol of Hungarianness in the 1800s.

Serbia – Cevapcicsa: A typical Balkan dish, the equivalent of which can be found in many South-Eastern European countries. There is probably no one who has not heard of this dish made of mixed minced meat, which can also be grilled. It can be made from beef, sheep and pork, but from the fattiest parts of all of them. It is also one of the most popular street foods in Serbia.

Romania – Mics/mititei : Also a very typical Romanian dish made from a mixture of pork, beef and mutton. The meat is simply seasoned with garlic and pepper, then finger-sized sticks are formed from it and grilled. The “secret” ingredient is baking soda, which if we left it out, we would get roughly the Hungarian meat pie. Served with mustard.
